GALVESTON ISLAND
PLEASURE ISLAND PIER

Completed 2012

Galveston, Texas

At greater than 1,100 feet long, the Galveston Pier originally housed a 6-floor hotel and supported a fishing pier operation.  At the request of Landry’s Corporation, a new amusement pier was master planned and designed by Don McCrary to support the pier’s new operation as the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. The overall architectural design of the buildings mimicked the Victorian era that is most prevalent and preserved on Galveston Island.  The pier's attractions include more than 16 rides and attractions, anchored at the end of the pier by a 100 - foot Ferris wheel and 300 - foot tower ride.
